Moving a step closer towards more sustainable farming

FPT Industrial has announced that the New Holland T6.180 Methane Power tractor, powered by the FPT Industrial N67 NG engine has been awarded the Sustainable 2022 “Tractor of the Year” prize at the EIMA International trade fair in Bologna (Italy). It received the award because it represents a step forward towards more sustainable farming.

Leveraging more than 20 years’ experience in Natural Gas engine development, proven by over 60,000 units sold globally, FPT Industrial says it is now pioneering the introduction of Natural Gas technology in off-road applications, with customised engine solutions for installation on agricultural equipment.

The N67 NG for the T6 Methane Power delivers the same performance as the Diesel version in terms of power, with up to 130 kW @ 1,800 rpm, 740 Nm torque @ 1,500 rpm, and the same durability and maintenance intervals, with an oil change interval of 600 hours, thus ensuring equivalent in-field performance and operation for end-users. Stage V compliance is attained through a simple maintenance-free 3-way catalyst, with no need for EGR, DPF or SCR, maximising reliability, machine uptime and efficiency.

In real-world agricultural working conditions, CO2 emissions are reduced by a minimum of 10% when compared to a standard diesel tractor and are close to net-zero when running on biomethane. Moreover, polluting emissions are reduced by 80% on average when compared to a standard Diesel engine.

Launched in 1998 by Italian magazine ‘Trattori’, the  annual TOTY awards recognise the latest innovations throughout the international tractor sector. This year, the jury comprised 26 journalists, representing the most influential agricultural magazines, websites, TV programs and social networks across Europe.
