Technologies of the future
Ultimo has announced it has been chosen to showcase how its Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) technology helps realise the factory of the future at the Digital Manufacturing Accelerator (DMA).
The initiative, by the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC), lets manufacturers experience the advantages of industry 4.0, IoT, smart manufacturing, robotics, and automation in real life and see how leveraging these technologies can transform the factory environment. As part of the project, MTC will build a state-of-the-art re-configurable factory in the centre of Liverpool to house the technologies.
The Digital Manufacturing Accelerator will make Ultimo’s solutions available to all the companies using MTC’s services. Potential customers can use the factory to get hands-on experience of Ultimo’s EAM cloud platform to evaluate how its features meet their operational challenges.
Ultimo is one of just 30 companies chosen to participate in the project. The selection was made by MTC’s team of leading academics and researchers who assessed the technologies, rating Ultimo as one of the top applicants. Ultimo’s digital competencies and the agility of the EAM cloud platform set its application apart from the competition.
The partnership will build on the strong relationship Ultimo has with MTC. The companies have previously collaborated on several projects, including the Smart Manufacturing Accelerator (Factory in a Box), which helps UK-based companies leverage industry 4.0 and the latest remote manufacturing technologies to speed up business development.
Patrick Beekman, partner solution manager at Ultimo, said: “We are very proud to participate in this initiative. Being included is a great testament to our technology. MTC is an important partner for us, and this cooperation will create new growth opportunities for Ultimo in the UK. Our cloud platform is highly flexible, industry-oriented, and doesn’t require a big investment. This partnership enables us to bring these benefits to new customers.”
Nigel Haigh, DMA Supply Chain Manager at MTC, commented: “The success of the DMA requires a network of suppliers with strong capabilities in technology, supply chain, and project delivery. We have a comprehensive supplier engagement and assessment programme to identify and select companies that can deliver the DMA assets and the longer-term collaboration needed. Being part of DMA’s supplier network is an endorsement of Ultimo’s strong capabilities and its commitment to build a mutually beneficial relationship. We recognise that the DMA will be a challenging environment, but we are confident in Ultimo’s capabilities and excited to be working together again.”
